Salesforce Einstein

Has Einstein returned?

No we are not talking about one of the greatest scientist and a sheer genius of all time (Sir. Albert Einstein) coming back to earth and rewarding us with something similar to his legendry “Theory of relativity” which he has gifted us to almost hundred years back from now.

In here we are talking about a new AI (Artificial Intelligence) platform introduced by Salesforce built into the very core of Salesforce CRM platform, the basic purpose of which is to deliver advanced AI capabilities to sales, service, and marketing — which will enable anyone to use clicks or code for building AI-powered apps that will get smarter with every interaction.

As the name of this newly introduced AI suggests (Einstein), a genuine question arises in our mind is that, does this AI have any similarity with the great man other than his name? The answer is “Yes”. Both are scientists. While the great man was a scientist of Space and Time, on the other hand the new AI from Salesforce is a Scientist of Data analysis and Data Mining.

Salesforce Einstein is like having your own data scientist dedicated to bringing AI to every customer relationship. It learns from all the CRM data, email, calendar, social, ERP, and IoT and delivers predictions and recommendations in context of what a Sales rep is trying to do. In some cases, it can even automate the tasks for the Sales Rep, enabling them to make smarter decisions with more confidence and focus on the customers.

AI isn’t something new in the industry and Salesforce Einstein takes advantage of a lot of the consumer side work done previously. For example: Amazon – predictive recommendations, Apple – natural language processing (NLP), Google – deep learning and Facebook – machine learning. Salesforce Einstein makes use of the best practices of all these above AI to help make us smarter and more productive.

But why was this built? At a hi-level it is built basically for:

  • Capturing real-time data
  • Learning through predictive analytics, NLP and machine and deep learning
  • Providing relevant data to the Sales Rep or the Sales Team that needs it with the proper context

The main segments from where Salesforce Einstein is targeting to obtain data for its analysis are mainly:

  • CRM: account, contact, lead, opportunity and custom objects
  • Calendar: salesforce calendar, google calendar, iCal
  • Email: salesforce inbox, gmail, yahoo mail, Apple mail
  • Social: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and others

Based on advanced machine learning, predictive analytics, deep learning, smart data discovery and natural language processing Salesforce Einstein’s will learn, self-tune, and get smarter with every interaction and additional set of data, and will automatically customize itself for every single customer.
